Three days flew by fast and my wonderful Rio trip was coming to an end. During the trip, I did get myself a special souvenir.

Our short trip did not afford us to go to the Amazon, however, it did not mean that we could not get a taste of it.

Our hotel was two blocks away from the Copacabana Beach, so of course we wouldn’t miss it.

While Mangueira had the best music, Viradouro had the most fun floats and a more contemporary theme.

Of all the 4 schools we stayed to watch, Mangueira had the best music and did the best to get everyone high and ride.

At some point, I hope you would wonder, what is the difference between the ballroom samba we watched on “Dancing with Stars” and the samba I saw in Rio’s carnival?

The second samba school was named “Imperio Serrano” and their theme color seemed to be green. They started with their green flag and the dancers in green dresses.

As the curtain of the night draped on, the event started. First of all, some organizations came out and did a quick parade, I am guessing those were the sponsoring organizations.

We preserved our energy for the night’s carnival. After getting out from the metro station, we had to walk quite a bit to the entrance and lots of roads around were blocked for security.
