2008-05-30 Prepare for Disembarkation
May, 2008
Although there were two more days before the trip ended, we started to receive disembarkation guidelines and transportation arrangement order forms from the Purser’s office. Passengers were instructed to check their account balance with the Purser’s desk and request proper tags and documents for custom clearance.
Each state room was issued a time table and some luggage tags with different colors. This was for passengers who require service to transport their luggage outside of the ship. Different tag colors indicated different disembarkation time and locations. Passengers would need to pack up their luggage and leave the large items outside of their room on the night before they disembark.
Since we only had two backpacks that both need to be checked in, it would be rather inconvenient for us to handle the toiletries during the morning. So we preferred to carry our luggage and use the express walkout arrangement. However, the only express walkout time slots were scheduled for 7:30am and 7:35am.
It took us some time to sort out the process and the line outside of the inquiry desk was rather long. Princess combined the disembarkation inquiry service and regular tour reservation into one counter, resulting in a long line with various areas of demands. I heard other passengers commented that other cruise lines handled this process more effectively.
Duty free purchases were also delivered to each room and this was pretty much the last day people can shop on the ship. Boutiques put out sales on jewelry, so don’t miss out.
The day went by rather uneventfully until at night where the crew threw a champagne fountain party in the Atrium lobby. With a live band playing and singing dancing music, people dressed up and danced at the lobby. In the front of the lobby, a 700 champagne glass fountain was setup and boxes of champagnes were opened and poured onto the fountain. Passengers could line up and pour the champagne together with the crew on the stage. The golden color champagne floating down the glass fountain looked really amazing and extravagant. I couldn’t help myself but lined up to share the joy. Now I felt like partying.
